Cascahuin make a few different expressions of tequila however the distillery owner recently declared the blanco by Cascahuin as his favourite.

Cascahuín is a family-run tequila producer established in 1904 by Salvador Rosales Briseño in a small town called El Arenal in Jalisco (the Mexican home state of tequila). Briseño chose the name ‘Cascahuin’, a pre-Hispanic word meaning ‘Peak of Light’, to proudly reflect the origins of the tequila-making tradition, said to date back to 300 A.D. when the Aztecs used tequila in religious ceremonies.

Alongside Cascahuin Blanco, the brand offers 4 other variations of their tequila: Anejo, Reposado, Tahona and Plata 48.

What makes Cascahuin Blanco tequila special?

People absolutely love Cascahuin Blanco tequila because of its balanced flavour and rich agave taste with hints of nut and sweet fruit. Cascahuin Blanco is made using a ‘Tahona wheel’ - a big wheel-shaped stone said to have been brought over to Mexico by the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century and used to grind and crush the cooked agave into the juice called ‘aguamiel’ (Spanish for ‘honey water’). This method preserves the natural taste and sweetness of the agave, playing a crucial part in providing a richer and more complex selection of aromas and flavours.

Cascahuin Blanco continues to stand out even more as we continue down the production process by its use of copper distillation pots. Copper pots are more expensive and harder to clean than stainless steel pots and so many distilleries use stainless steel instead. Copper is a far superior heat conductor leaving the end product with a more balanced profile in comparison to tequila produced using stainless steel pots.

Attaining to the highest standards, Cascahuin uses deep well spring water, some of the purest water available, to produce their Blanco Tequila. Aside from the cleanliness, this type of water is known to have a significant impact on the personality and flavour of the tequila.

Cascahuin also keeps all their tequilas free of any preservatives, additives, artificial sweeteners or other chemicals, providing an authentic tequila experience - so again, hats off to Cascahuin for really sticking to the traditional artisanal tequila-producing methods reinforcing the brands commitment to producing a top-of-the-line premium tequila.
