What makes the Clase Azul Gold special?

This is a blend of three very different tequilas: young, medium and vintage. These are a blanco (Clase Azul’s very own Tequila Plata); a reposado tequila matured in French oak casts, and an extra Anejo aged in bourbon casks and then finished in sherry casks. Blending these takes the tougher edges of each and leaves a more mellow overall flavour. It is commonly said that this blend from Clase Azul has created one of the most original tequila flavours ever.

Clase Azul Gold exchanges the sharper notes of single tequilas for softer flavours. It has a silkiness that coats the tongue.

Nose

Clear notes of sweet agave and vanilla fill the nose. A little heat. Hints of fruit and nuttiness too.

Taste

Sweet at the start a little spice at the end, and all along the way smooth of flavour. First vanilla and agave, then notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, fruit and oak appear. Some claim to be able to taste each of the three tequilas in this blend. Can you?

Aftertaste

It’s a smooth finish all the way. You will notice how the taste of agave lingers with hints of oakiness, green olives, pepper and dark chocolate too.

All Clase Azul decanters are made special, but this might be our favourite. To depict the gigantic beauty of a Mexican sunset, the bottom half of the glass decanter lets in light to show off gold tequila inside. The rest of the bottle is black, so creating a setting sun silhouette. The ceramic base is fused by hand into the glass decanter – a feat not only unique to tequila but we would wager any bottle of spirits produced globally.

How to enjoy Clase Azul Gold

This is a special occasion tequila that is can be enjoyed sipped on its own. If, however, you choose to accompany it with a meal then fish such as tuna, salmon, octopus and lobster are recommended to accompany it.

Clase Azul Gold cocktail ideas

As a blended tequila with a smooth flavour, this can make a luxurious mixer. And as befitting the sun depicted on the decanter, we think it only right it should be used for Tequila Sunrise. Make this simple cocktail with the following ingredients.

• 2 ounces Clase Azul Gold Tequila
• 4 ounces of the freshest orange juice you can find
• 1/4 ounce grenadine

 Stir or shake together the tequila and orange juice. Pour into a chilled tall glass filled with ice cubes. Then slowly pour in the grenadine and patiently wait for it to settle to the bottom.
