G4 108 blanco is distilled twice and contains more pure sweet agave-based alcohol that brings it up to 54% alcohol and 108 proof. The double distillation amplifies the kick from the agave, pepper and cinnamon flavours. There is subtle power here. The reason this blanco is called "108" is because it is 108 Proof alcohol which is the same as 54% ABV here in the UK.

Nose

Alcohol with accentuated agave and pepper. Also, some floral notes.

Taste

An immediate intense hit of agave with a nice crisp flavour. There is a lot more pepper than the regular G4 blanco.

Aftertaste

Cinnamon and a little tropical fruit on the aftertaste.

Appearance

Clear colour with a sparkly ‘crystal-like’ appearance.

Presentation

There are two different bottles for the G4 108 blanco. The first has a dark blue label, which casued some confusion as the regular blanco has a similar looking, so a second label was created. In late 2023 the dark blue label was switched for a silver label. Both bottles are still in the market.

The bottle appears tall and slender and contains 700ml.

Price

G4 Blanco 108 is on the mid range in price comparison to other blanco tequilas. What this blanco does offer is a higher percentage of alcohol, 54% ABV , for a similar price to standard strength blanco tequilas.

Who produces G4 108 Proof tequila?

This is produced by a distellllery simply called G4. The G stands for generation and the 4 stands for the fourth generation of the founding Camarena family. The current family head Felipe Camarena is renowned for his inventive ways.

Where is G4 108 Proof made?

The highlands of Jalisco state are 20 degrees north of the equator but still can get snow at night. This is where the famous G4 distillery named El Pandillo is based. The freezing nights and baking days are a harsh environment that brings out the best in the blue agave plant used to make G4 108 Proof.

On the rocks

In a cocktail

G4 laid down a challenge to fans of tequila to try its G4 108 blanco in a Negroni cocktail. It’s “bold enough to punch through any flavour profile”, they claimed on Instagram. A Negroni with tequila is sometimes known as a Tegroni. The tequila takes the place of the gin in the cocktail. It is mixed with the bitter-tasting Campari and a sweet vermouth. The dry, bitter and sweet flavours are a classic mix for cocktails.

Mix equal shots of vermouth, tequila and Campari and mix in ice. Serve with one thin slice of orange zest, while using a second slice to rub the rim of the cocktail glass.
