Don Julio 70 Cristalino Tequila
Don Julio 70 (40% ABV) combines the rich flavours of an Añejo with the crystal clear appearance of a youthful silver tequila.
Why Don Julio 70 Stands Out
First Don Julio 70 is aged for 18 months in American white oak barrels to give its rich flavour, but then it is charcoal-filtered to achieve its crystal-clear appearance. The skill here comes from retaining the flavour which typifies Don Julio’s decades of expertise in tequila-making. Crafted from 100% Blue Weber Agave, it was launched to celebrate Don Julio González’s 70th anniversary.

- Finish: Long-lasting and smooth, with pleasant sweetness, subtle oak, and caramel notes.
- Colour: Crystal-clear, achieved through meticulous charcoal filtration.
Pairing Suggestions
Sip Don Julio 70 neat or on ice to enjoy its full flavour. It pairs well with grilled meats like carne asada or al pastor, as their smoky taste matches the tequila’s bold character. Try it with Mexican dishes such as tacos or ceviche, which bring out its vibrant notes.
It also complements spicy dishes with strong seasonings. For a refreshing twist, mix it with lemonade or tonic, or enjoy it in a Cristallino Margarita.
Product Heritage
Don Julio González founded the brand in 1942 in the highlands of Jalisco. He worked hard to make tequila a premium spirit. With a loan of 20,000 pesos, he built his distillery, La Primavera, where Don Julio tequila is still made.
The volcanic soil in the area is rich in minerals, which gives the agave a sweet taste and a smooth texture. About 7-10 kilograms of agave are used per litre, ensuring a pure agave flavour.
Craftsmanship and Sustainability
Don Julio 70 is made with organic Blue Weber Agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens. It is distilled twice in stainless steel pot stills equipped with copper coils to remove impurities, resulting in a clean spirit.
The tequila ages in American white oak barrels, which were previously used for bourbon, before being filtered through charcoal to achieve a clear appearance.
The brand employs eco-friendly methods, such as growing agave without the use of chemicals, to care for the environment.
Community Support
Don Julio supports Jalisco communities with education and health projects. Since 2021, the Tequila Don Julio Fund has pledged $1 million to charities that help the communities behind the brand.
Business Initiatives
In 2022, Don Julio collaborated with a US-based Latino professional organisation to provide $20,000 grants to five Hispanic entrepreneurs. These grants supported the growth of their businesses and celebrated the entrepreneurial spirit within the Hispanic community.
Awards
Don Julio 70 was recognised as a top-trending tequila in 2020 by Drinks International and in 2023 it secured a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its outstanding quality.
Bottling and Design
Don Julio 70 Cristallino Tequila features a striking transparent design that showcases its crystal-clear liquid. The elegant, curved shape 700ml bottle matches the brand’s proud heritage - its bold black cap that provides a sleek contrast. A black ribbon with ‘70th Anniversary’ lettering wraps around the neck, commemorating the seven decades the brand has spent raising the profile of premium tequila.
